Wood is Good
| Facts about Wood | Wood products
make up 47% of all industrial raw materials made, yet consume only
4% of the energy consumed by all industrial materials. It takes
three times more energy to make a 10-foot by 100-foot steel wall as
it does to make the same wood wall.
It takes 25 times more water to make a 10-foot-by 100-foot steel wall as it does to make the same wood wall. Carbon dioxide emissions are three times as great for a 10-foot by 100-foot steel wall as they are in the same wood wall. Wood is 16 times more efficient as an insulator as concrete, 415 times as efficient as steel and 2,000 times as efficient as aluminum. Source:
