EXCITING NEWS AT SENECA On January 26, 2009, Seneca announced that it is building a $45 million wood-fired power plant that will generate enough electricity to light up 13,000 houses annually. Seneca Sustainable Energy officially broke ground on October 9, 2009. Because pictures are worth a thousand words, here is a photo of our shovel-turning ceremony.

January 24, 2011 - We are nearing the completion of the construction phase, and are entering the testing phase. Within the next 30 days, we expect to be producing power!
February 3, 2011 - Seneca Sustainable Energy (SSE) reached another milestone on Thursday, February 3, when synchronization was completed between the CoGen Facility and EWEB, the purchaser of our electricity. Aaron completed the "official switch" during a small ceremony in the Control Room of the CoGen Facility This marks our ability to physically move electricity produced by SSE to EWEB's grid for local consumption. For those serviced by EWEB, just think, the next time you turn on a light, it might be from electricity produced at Seneca! -- Todd Payne
